Circus Zambia is a youth empowerment initiative based in Lusaka, Zambia, using social circus as an innovative tool for social inclusion, education, and personal development. Working primarily with children and young people from underserved communities, the project creates safe spaces where participants can grow, learn, and discover new pathways for their future.
Through circus arts, young people build confidence, resilience, and life skills while strengthening their physical and mental well-being.
The Challenge
Many young people in Lusaka’s informal settlements face limited access to education, safe recreational spaces, and employment opportunities. Social exclusion, gender inequality, and economic hardship restrict personal development and future prospects — particularly for girls and marginalized youth.
Without supportive environments, talent and potential often remain untapped.
Zambia Circus transforms circus arts into a platform for social change.
By combining movement, creativity, and education, the program empowers youth to develop essential life skills while fostering inclusion and community cohesion.
